On 9 June 2020, Bangladesh formally took over the presidency of the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) and the Vulnerable Twenty (V20) Group of Ministers of Finance for the term 2020-2022 from the Marshall Islands. The Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) is a global partnership of 48 countries that are unequally affected by the consequences of global warming.
In July 2020, Ms. Saima Wazed, Chairperson of Shuchona Foundation and Chairperson of the National Advisory Committee on Neurodevelopmental Disorders and Autism, has been chosen as a “Thematic Ambassador” by Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) under the thematic domain of ‘Vulnerability’. Being one of the Thematic Ambassadors will enable Ms. Wazed to access a wide-reaching forum, bringing her unique insights into the discourse on climate change. Furthermore, as the representative for the unheard voices and concerns of the most vulnerable segments of society, severely threatened and impacted by dangers and effects caused by human-driven changes to the Earth’s climate, she will support the most threatened populations by the climate crisis and mobilize support from the international community. As a Thematic Ambassador, Ms. Saima Wazed will work for areas concerning vulnerabilities and solutions that includes migration and displacement, health, and human rights.
